Problem here is that so many of these "little rumors" have proven to be true, so why should anyone believe that this one will be any different?

Yes, parts and pieces of rumors have been true and a lot of them have not.  The key is can people separate the actually legit part of a rumor from the speculation that is added to any rumor as it moves from one forum or person to another.
