Because it helps deal with the latency issues - it doesn't matter how fast you can drive your car if the roads aren't open yet. (Unless there are little side detours to keep you moving.)
It thought that the latency of the GDDR5 memory of the PS4 might mean the Xbox One, in effect, will have a slightly more powerful CPU. So the PS4 can make a prettier picture, but not as many as quickly. (But this is all theoretical at this point.)

Also, this rumor is from last fall - it isn't anything new. Other than how many people on this site just want a certain company to fail. It's kinda of a sad statement about them.
