One problem about rumors is that you get one part true and a lot of speculation in between. I remember reading about this rumor and that thread a while ago. What I do not remember was any downgrade in chip speed. Since this is an old rumor that someone decided to revive, who knows what the state of X1 is today. There hasn't been any info on the subject for awhile.
