I don't mind what it looks like, I do mind that it still needs a power brick and now also Kinect required.
And will it work standing on it's side?

I move my consoles around the house a lot, kids play or watch movies in the living room, I take it downstairs at night to play on the projector. Easy with ps3, you only need a standard power and hdmi cable in each location. Digging out a power brick and recalibrating Kinect every time is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, if you move the console around a lot, having to also move Kinect will be a pain in the but along with the power brick.  I use to do this a lot in my home as well so I know where you are coming from.  I am sure MS never thought about that or if they did probably got left on the design floor of "Do not care" pile.

With Slot loading I do not see an issue with having it on the side but the thing is huge so it might not be practical
