All you needed is a 1.5m+ boost from bundles to almost match Gears of War 3 which had almost 0% bundling, has been available digitally for over a 1.5 years and is massively under-tracked. It's under-tracked because in Nov 2012 it was announced that the Gears of War series had past 19 million worldwide, Cliff Bleszinski noted that Gears 1 & 2 had sold over 12 million combined. So lets say Gears 1 was at 6.25m & Gears 2 was at 6.50m then Gears 3 was at about 6.25m+ back then. I'd bet that it's overtaken Gears 2 by now, somewhere between 6.50m-6.75m. I don't know why Vgchartz didn't update Gears 3 & 1 when Epic announced how well the series really sold, they must've updated Uncharted's numbers after ND shared numbers because they're perfectly inline with what they said, unless Vgchartz actually got it right. Look at weeks 5-10 and 55-60 to see Uncharted 3's mass bundling at work for those so quick to shrug off the bundling 'excuse': http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/game_comparison.php?reg=Global&ending=Cumulative&game%5B%5D=Uncharted+3%3A+Drake%27s+Deception+%28PS3%29+%5B49054%5D&game%5B%5D=Gears+of+War+3+%28X360%29+%5B44123%5D&game%5B%5D=&game%5B%5D= So yeah, you can act shocked and celebrate this 'achievement' if you'd like, even though Gears of War 3 is really ahead of UC3 by at least 500K+. Anyway, I think Gears of War 3 deserves praise for staying ahead for so long despite everything and for selling many more copies at full price. |
You and JustThatGamer have something in common. Don't ask me, I don't know.
