That was supposed to be taken as a joke... SPM wasn't bad either, it just wasn't good. There, that makes perfect sense.

I think the main thing that people don't seem to get is that maybe, just maybe, Nintendo wanted to take the Paper Mario series in a different direction. And that's a mission they obviously succeded in. Maybe this is the samething that happened to Pokemon; early adopters of the series just can't understand why the series had to change, whilst the "newer" adopters enjoy the change.

Not sure about that success. Keeping Paper Mario as the simple, straightforward RPG with enough depth could have led to better sales and certainly a more solid fanbase for future titles.

Also, Pokémon changed? That has to be a joke.

Sad thing is they'll probably look at the sales and think "people love this, let's continue". I may not like it personally, but the series has increased in sales with SPM, and even more with PM:SS.

Now that's a scary thought. If that were to be the case, then sadly I'd have to ditch the PM franchise and go with Mario & Luigi only from now on to get my Mario RPG fix. Surely that wont happen though, right Nintendo... right?
