The online pass was dumb

Not according to S.T.A.G.E, which was "more than happy" to pay for them.

Don't mix anything else in this conversation, as I haven't raised any other thing.

You're proving my point. If Sony does it, then it is not a corporate blow to gamers, but instead, something we can endure and condone.

If I bought a game used I'd have been more than happy to pay for the online pass if I wanted to as well.  Online pass and your game being tied to your account are entirely different. In 10 years when PSN and XBL no longer support PS3 and 360, I won't be able to play online regardless.  Even games I own that have no online pass won't be able to go online.  However, in 20 years when XBL no longer supports the Xbox One, I'll no longer be able to play the game at all.

In short, the online pass ties down online to an account.  This new restrictive DRM on the Xbox One ties online and single player to an account.  That's the difference.  PS360.  No online.  Xbox One.  No games period.
