Yeah, but 3rd partys could also implement such a System on Wii U or even on PS3 and 360. Sony just has nothing to do with it. So even if some publishers are willing to do their own thing, I can just buy only games that work offline and I can still lend games to friends and so on. So until now I'm fine with Sonys solution. Though we'll still have to see what publishers will use their own systems. I think EA with Origin is pretty much a given, so I'll pass on EA games completely Next Gen. Not too much of a loss though.
But for me personally, it's definitely better than Microsofts approach. My console just isn't connected to the internet all the time as I only have internet via Cellular, which sucks hard. Ping is too high, online play is impossible and after reaching 30 GB traffic my connection becomes really really REALLY slow. That's why I never buy games online and connect my consoles only if there is a important update for some game. Other than that, I keep them off the net.
I also like to take my consoles to a friend, where we play all night long in the basement. Everythings cool down there, we got our own bar, a kitchen and everything. Just no internet. But Offline Mutliplayer is far more fun anyway if you ask me. We still don't know for sure what will happen with the PS4, but if it comes down to the same fashion as Xbox 1, my only choice next gen will be Wii U. In the end, I believe it's always best to let the consumers themselves choose whether they want to be online all the time or not. Give options to the people but don't force them to do anything. I want to use my console the way I like it, not the way the manufacturer likes to.
