LOL, I find it funny that you mention a lot of MS studios which were recently bought, or created and have not produced any games, and studios which produce crap.

Anyway, this is an impressive list of studios, but it's what the studio develops that counts. Sony has 14, 1st party studios which have produced games with scores of 80+, and 7 which have produced scores of 90+. Nintendo has 13 studios, 12 of which have produced games of 80+, 7 of which have produced games of 90+, MS has 20 studios, only 4 of which have produced games with 80+, and only a single developer which has produced games with 90+ scores.

Really? You base you appreciation of a game based on how high it scored on metacritics? If I was like you, I wouldn't have got the chance to play the gems that are the Fable games.  A game franchise that never scored above 89, yet still managed to become one of my favourite game series.

Your view on this is shallow at best. 

LOL, Fable 2 put me to sleep. No really, I was playing Fable 2 with my friends at 2 in the afternoon and I actually fell asleep playing it, and for a while too, my friends too over. I think that series get over-inflated scores as it is.

However you are right, different people will appreciate a good 8/10 or 7/10 game, I for instance love JRPG's, most don't get 9/10 or higher scores anymore.

Still I wouldn't count studios that only make shovelware, arcade games, or just crap. I wouldn't count what's left on the list..... I only eliminated 4 Microsoft studios...

Another thing to consider is the size of the studios, and the number of games they develop. Nintendo EAD for example can make a dozen games in a year, where something like Team ICO makes 1 game every 5 years.

Well I wanted to include both companies 1st party studios and I understand that Microsoft recently purchased some 1st-party studios hence the work-in-progress. The only studio that hasn't produced a game yet that I am excited for is Black Tusk and I'm only going on rumors. Their best studios are clearly 343 and Turn 10, while Lionhead seemingly has dropped off in production and Rare has rarely achieved a game above an 80 metacritic since Viva Piñata.

 

As far as the list goes for Sony they own studios with fairly good track records, the worst studios for them this generation would have been Zipper and BigBig probably for the best they were shutdown, SCE Liverpool even produced an 89, 87, 79 shame they were closed.

 

Overall though when it comes to 1st-party studios Sony and Nintendo have some quality studios while Microsofts younger studios are still growing. Hope I can expand the list by adding Nintendo and organizing it a bit, looks a tad sloppy because of all the work-in-progress studios are spread out rather than being at the bottom.

I agree, and to be fair 2nd party studios make a big influence too. A couple great examples are InSomniac (Resistance series) and GameFreak (Pokemon - Not 1st party).
