I looked at Xenoblade as a spiritual successor to Xenogears/Xenosaga and some of the story themes that those games featured heavily. But really given the fact that the Xenoverse has been said the story being six parts who knows if Xenoblade wasn't meant to fit in their original plan at some point.
Either way, Xenoblade is by far their best game and redeems the series from being the cinema fest that plagued the previous games to carry the brand.
