My wallet certainly can't, as i just got fired today :/

You're either working hard or hardly working?

I got fired once because I was basically doing a 3 people job...

Little office tiff that ballooned into being far more than it should have been, involving this very mean-spirited older woman who yelled at me and insulted me, then made claims that i was stealing from other employees, which they believed without even letting me give my side of the story.

I guess they just thought i was going to be trouble (as aside from being a bully, the woman in question was objectively a much more valuable employee than i was, simply by virtue of her experience and the kind of work she was detailed) and so canned me rather than performing any trickier kind of conflict resolution.

Union rep? Labour board? Sure sounds like you have grounds to fight this if you're being summarily dismissed based on one person's hearsay.

They think you're going to be trouble, I say you prove 'em right. Unless that workplace simply isn't worth fighting over.

Non-union position, ultimately not worth it. I was there for three months, didn't want to be there really, and they would have charged me back compensation for the background investigation to get in there if I had quit on my own, so really the only thing I would need to fight over is if they start bad-mouthing me to future potential employers (which i know is legally actionable in a lot of states), but i would only even reference them if A: the future employer will find out about them whether i want them to or not (which would only be government jobs) or B: the future employer is so similar to this company that putting them down would outweigh the termination.

I will be sending them a politely-worded but still-scathing e-mail and letter to their HR department to put my protest down for the record, though.

The key is (to get back on-topic as well) that now i'm out of work again, and i plan on spending something like $350 on grad school applications this summer. I'll have to cancel my vacation (saving me $470 plus whatever i would have spent that weekend)

Thank god for the slow Wii U release schedule, really. Hopefully by the end of summer when things pick up i'll have at least *something* to cover all these games: Bayonetta 2, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Link to the Past 2, and Pokemon Y are all on the must-buy list. Pikmin 3 i should at least be able to swing as a birthday present...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
