... because that is what fans do. Thus the term, which is a diminutive of "fanatic".
When Microsoft announced a terrible DRM scheme for their console, Sony fans (or GAF... same thing) took to Twitter to rail against the possibility of DRM on the Playstation. Where are the Xbox fans organizing to tell Microsoft not to do this awful shit that we know is happening?
