I think you guys are all over-reacting.

First off, this isn't replacing regular wifi, just another option should a game have downloadable content (GH4) or be MMO based. Nothing shocking or unusual here, you pay on MS and Sony service for downloadable content too. And MMOs are always some form of pay-to-play.

This is also probably key to their expansion in China/India and South America where you can bet 90% of games will be pirated. So to be profitable in those areas, you need to have pay-to-play games.

 Correct!

What this means is that we'll still get the same number of free online games, but now we'll also have developers jumping on the Wii with interest in creating games to charge for.

This can't drive away casuals, because the games that casuals would play in the first place most likely will have free online. It'll be "hardcore"-type games that have pay-to-play.

Lastly, free online = limited online support. However, if you're paying for online play, then you'll be more guaranteed to have support well into the future.

Anyone that complains about this is ignorant to the facts.
