On the other hand both PS3 and 360 already have established RE fanbases because of RE 5 & 6, which should favour both of those platforms quite a bit. So, if we're looking at what platform is the most favourable for the game I fail to see how Wii U wins.

Both have their reasons for why they could sell better than the other. At the end of the day I am still surprised they are on par. I honestly expected the WiiU version to sell a bit better. Doesn't it have exclusive content?

Not that I know of, unless Japan got a special deal. You can manage inventory on the pad screen and it supports off-tv but on the other hand they apparently messed up movement controls and the framerate...And don't ask me how you can screw up the movement!
