I have an idea of what could "save" the Wii U.

Maybe Nintendo could save it by releasing videogames on Wii U.

I think that might work.

It would, but I'm talking in terms of a benefit to cost/time ratio. Console games require a decent amount of time to develop (especially Nintendo, who is very strict about quality control). Why not tap into an already existing library in the meantime?

Because it would adversely affect the sales of the 3DS. It's not going to happen.

They will do exactly what they're planning to do - release the delayed Wii Fit, The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario and then release Wind Waker, 3D Mario and Mario Kart 8 before the end of the year.

After that they'll have Yoshi's Yarn, Retro's new game, X, Bayonetta 2 until E3 2014 and then have one or two of this year's E3 games, a surprise Megaton or two announced at that year's E3 and SSBU before the end of 2014.

Should do well for the rest of 2013 and third party support will step up as a result of that combined with the fact that all 3 consoles will have a similar architecture making porting between the Wii U/PS4/One a great deal easier than porting between the Wii U/PS3/360.

That depends on if Nintendo are more concerned with software or hardware sales. Hardware-wise, it MIGHT cause a small decline (emphasis on might). For software sales, it should show an increase, considering it's opened up a new userbase in the WiiU. My friend is refusing to buy Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Luigi's Mansion 2 until he's able to play it on the TV. I know some others who have the same view.

Considering that Nintendo makes a higher profit margin on its software than its hardware, I'd say it would benefit the 3DS category more than harm it...
