They don't offer price protection.
Their games are re-playable-so they have a longer hold time.

Used games don't really bother them much because think about it. If you are a kid, you have limited funds. You become fans of a series/game by borrowing the game maybe. (Happened to me a bunch of times)
Maybe then you buy the sequel.

Besides for some reason Nintendo games refuse to fall in price. 49.99 all generation and used copy 44.99. I'd really rather just pick up the new one. And then there are games that are 59.99 at launch and 39.99 used 1 month later. Maybe it was just a bad game if people are rushing to trade it in?

Nintendo is subliminally telling people to keep their games. Starcoins, triforce, and such are all collectathons. You must collect. Don't sell. Collect. Hoard. Iwata-MUHAHAHA
