well i think wiiu will get a price cut only after ps4 and nextbox have come out with a price. same thing happen with the 3ds when sony announced vita's price a month later 3ds was dropped. now i also believe that if ps4 and xbox are 450 or higher they might not drop it at all and wait until after the holidays. they will have many games out and if that proves to be enough to boost sales they might stick with this price. also nintendo was making money on 3ds original price on hardware sales whereas wiiu current price does not.

After I've been thinking about it I reckon we'll see a $50 price cut in October to coincide with the release of 3D Mario.

Nintendo were only making a small loss on each unit sold at launch and 11 months after launch manufacturing costs would probably come down by that time for them to break even. You've also got to remember that the Yen not being so strong now will also put them in a much better financial position with units sold in the West.

I can see the Basic SKU being $249.99, the Premium SKU being $299.99, the PS4 being either $449.99 or $499.99 and the One being priced the same.

Both the PS4 and One are going to really struggle after Christmas and due to supply constraints I can't see either one selling over 1.5m before the end of the year. The Wii U should have an installed userbase over 8m before the end of the year, my guess would be over 10m given the software on the way between now and 31st December.

I wonder how many gaming journalists are going to harp on about Sony and Microsoft needing to go third party when this happens lol.
