I agree with a lot of what you said, but at the risk of beating a dead horse, I'd like to point out that Nintendo isn't even brilliant enough to create an account system in 2013. That's pretty anti-consumer, too, even if it's not out of ill intent but because they're all, "How do I made network?"
And Steam already killed used games for PC. So... there's that.
