I'm a writer. If someone buys my books used I don't get shit. If someone lends the book from a friend, I also get nothing. But I think that's ok. And you know why? I think it's a bad idea and Microsoft will lose most of their fanbase. It might just kick them out ouf the console business. But if Sony decides to do the same thing, I'm out and will be buying a Wii U or something. Because the publisher just doesn't deserve to get something just because I decide to sell my copy. And the console maker sure as hell doesn't deserve to get something from the used market. 

DRM is not the right way if you want to sell more copies. It's the exact opposite. Even the average joe will figure out soon enough when a company is clearly anti-consumer. So they will be looking for alternatives. If you want to sell a lot of copies, it's a good idea to just make a good game and don't give a shit about DRM. The game will be copied, no matter how hard you try. In fact, I think the Xbox One will be hacked just because it tries to be even more closed than Apple products. I can imagine some hackers feel challenged by Microsoft. 

So, in the end, even with used games, piracy and whatnot, a good game will sell. People will know about it and a possible sequel will sell even better. For decades used games didn't seem to be a problem. Now that piracy isn't the big thing, all of a sudden used games a responsible for the downfall of the industry? Seriously? It's just some old bastards who don't know nothing about video games and want to maximize their profits, no matter what it takes.
