If anything it was a bad omen that gaming will soon go in the direction of PC's where consumers own nothing and play licensed games, except its on a closed format OS. Where physical copies of games are tied to a CD key. This is a gamer rights issue and no one should be jumping on Xbox fanatics about how PC was so amazing when a good portion of the games they are enjoying we're already playing. Can someone please explain this to me? I just got get it at all.
Thanks.

Using a "Closed format OS" as an excuse for playing down the PC is just silly. What do the consoles have? They're completely closed platforms.
As for ownership, I own my games on the PC, not rent them through Steam, it's not like you go buy a game and the next week the publisher and developer takes it away from you, the vast majority of games also allow you to play them offline.
Don't get me wrong, I'll buy the Xbox One and PS4 for the exclusives, but my main platform of choice will always be the PC, it's superior in every way.

Your first point was exactly my point. I never said PC was closed.
No, you paid for a license to your PC games. Steam protects your license of use through their system (cloud gaming) which the PS3 and 360 have been using since 2005 and 2006. You essentially own nothing. Physical ownership is the only ownership that matters.
I beg to differ that PC is superior outside of hardware upgrades, open format and being able to mod which I care nothing for truthfully.
