I think you may be on to something. Especially, the daily check in on the net is going to make it really hard to hack/pirate.

A TV box that is hard to pirate that also plays games! You are one smart little chipmunk.

(My problem is I don't have or want a cable box. I don't think it includes a tuner, so not sure if I can use the TV Features. (Although, I think the cable company will give me one if I want. I just don't want.))

I still think Microsoft is planning on rolling out an IPTV service.  What they've done with the Guide is a lot of work simply to use it for cable.  Understand, MediaRoom has a guide built into it, and it has many of the same features as the Guide on Xbox One.  Why sell MediaRoom, keep a bunch of patents related to commercials (more than the one posted about here), patents related to delivering programming, etc, and not have something more planned?

That would be nice, I would be happy to drop my local provider, provided it’s not too much of a price difference.  Especially if I can get a nice convenient guide - if they added voice search to that, Oh, total Win-Win with icing on top!

That might make me a day one adopter. But I think they are trying to work with the existing cable companies – or they would be fighting back hard to stop the Xbox One.

Like the curent ESPN or HBO Go, I think some will come through the cable companies.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
