I'm not surprised at all by that as HDMI 1.4a/b already supports 4k resolution (although not at 60 Hz, so that's not viable for games) and they have a capable GPU inside (and probably a dedicated scaler chip aswell), so upscaling content to 4k is a piece of cake provided they have the necessary algorithms. Even if MS didn't want to develop those themselves they could easily license some from AMD.

Yes but I am really looking forward of how well this can be done. I know AVRs do it since 2 years but has this ever been tested? How good is the quality?
