The same reason forza 4 wasn't a free patch for forza 3, altought it would have been a down grade.

There is no way Forza 3 could have come about through a patch of Forza 2.  Not sure if it could have been done to achieve Forza 4 since I haven't played it yet.  Same thing applies to GT6 there is too much new contend for it just being a patch for GT5.
