a) I understand, i would pick English just as i happen to speak it. And i would say it was by chance, English became a language of business as England was the first industrialised country and so naturally spoke that and due to our influence as superpower back in the day. People saw they would make more money if they could easily trade with us. I just wonder if the Chinese would change that, more than enough people speak that language. b) Maybe when those areas become wealthier people will want to move to Africa or Asia but obviously people go where the jobs and wealth are. Currently, most of that is still in the west. Also, i understand alot of the problems with illegal migrants but how do we stop that? Once they are in, they are impossible to find and become apart of society quite quickly much of the time. Stuff like language issues and expoiltative wages are not simple to fix, they are complex problems that have no quick fix. As a socialist, i tend to accept immigration as something that benefits far more than it has negatives. Especially, if they bring essential skills that are needed in the country (i believe Australia does immigration that way) Not that i approve of unlimited immigration which has a problem for the UK for the last 10 years. It's hard to say whether illegal immigration should be considered as apart of immigration overall or not or a problem in itself. Immigration is something i question alot, as the current system is so flawed here. How do you find these illegals and what would we do with them? How would we ensure a fair system for those who come legally? How would we integrate migrants in with the rest of society, so they can benefit the economy? How would we know how many to let in each year to do not overload our services? |
A) Tons of people speak Mandarin. (China actually has multiple kinds of "chinese") However, the problem is... they're all Chinese. So English has a large systematic advantage in that it's essentially spoken by large populations in every country. Outside which, India is growing with China... and they pretty much all speak English.
B) It seems your problem with people against illegal immigration is mostly based ony your ignornace of peoples positions against illegal immigration, since most people against illegal immigration would agree with everything you've said.
The vast majority of the anti-immigration movement isn't like europe and it's "No muslims allowed" policies.
In America, they simply want people coming here by following the rules.
