The problem with trying to be "smart TV" or whatever Microsoft wants to call it is that there are at least a dozen companies trying to do that now, hundreds more that have tried and failed in the past (including Microsoft), and cable providers perceive every attempt as a threat, so they work super hard to make sure nobody ever does succeed. So far they've been very effective. Honestly, it's not even clear that the general public even wants computing in their TV. Paraphrasing Steve Jobs, people go to computers to turn their minds on, people go to TV to turn their minds off.
