They could, of course, but I don't think it will come to that. I'm getting the very strong impression from everything Sony has said so far that they will take no official stance on the issue and let publishers do whatever they want to do to fight used games on the PS4. Which will be both better and worse than if they just did what MS is doing; arguably worse, because it will mean PS4 owners will have to convince every single publisher to stop doing this shit instead of just the platform holder.
I just wonder how this will shake out in Japan where used games are such a huge thing. For starters, it obviously means that the Bone is going to be even deader than it already was. But the spillover of this shit policy could mean that the Playstation suffers there as well, setting the whole country up for TOTAL NINTENDOMINATION RARRRRRRR!
