Let's see, 2 Japanese companies who were competing with each other join forces to take on the greater parts of the world. This has happened before.

So no. Personally I think Nintendo and SEGA fit better, SEGA mascots pretty much sell on Nintendo consoles and some of the SEGA IPs can fill in the "mature" games that Nintendo doesn't have a lot of.
