There was one thing though. Eurogamer/Didital Foundry was speculating a few weeks before the reveal that 8GB of GDDR5 is out of the question because nobody did that before and it would be too expensive and it's basically not happening. In light of that, the announcement that the PS4 will carry 8GB od GDDR5 was quite amazing at the time.
Other that that no, there wasn't anything unexpected or amazing. I hope they still have something amazing for E3. |
No one said Sonys show was amazing but they fulfill the objective to show what next gen entails for videogames. Microsoft failed on all fronts with that objective. Microsoft had a better showing for being an entertainment console, but my family already has the dish network and an Xbox that is dependent on a Kinect is not always my bag. I like Dance Central but thats about the only thing I like about Kinect because I dance.

Prior to the release they di dsay e3 willb be all about games not th e reveal so i don't kwno what people were expecting if they knew teh reveal won't be about games lol

Sony showed part of the OS actual live demos and showed us how next gen will work and I am sure they'll still school MS in first party development to boot at E3 but I am sure MS will bring it (For the first time in their lives). They did it this gen and they'll do it again. Games should always be expected of a company that invests in the gaming experience. If not...question their motives.

Showing tech demos of what can be doen is pointless because the games made for it won't come close to that visual fidelty . Even at the end of its cycle teh graphics will nto come to that quality. Kz tech demo that they use for kz 2 has not been achieved at all. not even close. plus the trailer from square enix. we all knwo the ff games using the engien won't have real time graphics like that. CG moveis may be. Demo from capcom that looked too good to eb actual graphics. Pc would be the best platform or the closest oen to achive the graphoics not Ps4 of Xone. the one by quantic dream was just a tech demo which i scool but doesn't mean anythig as its not gameplay graphics running in real tiem thast shown. Sony showed mainly the controller and teh shared function of how it will work if a user were to pess it. Ms did the same with kinect and how it woudl work with multitaskign and so on. Aprt from few extra demos and tech demos both had teh same reval average reveal . Don't forget sony reveal was two hours and ms only had one . if ms had teh extra hour i am sure they would have squeezed in few more trailers deos or techdemos. The best is to wait for e3 and see with teh games tehy who , which machine is better :) MS said e3 will be about ganes and they said 5 exclsuives in one year. so they haven't forgotten teh core part which is games. Wait for e3 is all i am going ot say lol

What....are...you..talking about? MS showed absolutely nothing. Sony showed what next gen will look like. Thats the point. Sonys only mistake was not showing the console. Everyone had to excuse MS for their affinity for casuals over gamers so they granted them the one show to show off the entertainment features of the Xbox One. Sony never gets carried away with that, but it doesn't mean they wont pander to casuals once in a while.

MS said they are showing off 16 exclusives, which means the majority will be Kinect, third party made or XBLA. There will be like four to five actual AAA games outside of Forza 3, but yes let us wait for E3.

They showed footage of forza 4 , they showed gameplay in game graphics of COD (Ps i hate this garbage lol) and ea showed how sports game could possibly look like using their ifnity engine and they showed trailers for all their sports game. Were you watching the reveal as well lol. Considerign they said it will be about the hardware they still manage to show all of it in ahour. not great but its how it is. Well the casuals paidoff fro abox 360 an dkinnect. and what do you consider as hardcore as the definition in itself differs from individuals.
Anyways besides teh point in e3 would be the deciedr for people aas to which machine they will buy.

None of their demos were actually in game demo, they were in engine cinematics. In essence they never showed anything concrete.
As for the people who were MS were actually trying to appeal to at their conference...none of them were actually watching. Gamers had to watch a show that was not meant to them. At least they got it out of the way because this is what MS E3 has been for the past three years.
As for my assumptions about MS games, I am going off of prior knowledge of what MS finds to be important. Kinect> Cheap development> AAA titles.

Cod did show in game graphics .Activision said it . Forza 4 trailer looked plausible . But then what i am trying to say is that neither actually showed in game graphics taht we as gamers will get to see and control. They were all just fancy trailes and tech demos. Only a small handful of actual gameplay footage were shown from wither companies. Well thats fine. You are entitled to an opinion but its not fact as opinion does not equal fact. There wer eplenty watching online and people like me as true gamers will just buy all of them and get th ebest of all three worlds :)
