but they wont check thoroughly if they dont know the new product even exists. im not saying that will happen with the X1. but it certainly did happen with the WiiU. they didnt know it was a new console. so they didnt check thoroughly

That's because of poor marketing. The little marketing that exist(ed around Christmas...) makes it very clear that it's a new system.
