But, I thought Voyager was my favorite out of all the series. Too bad it was on UPN or it may have been much bigger. Instead regular people watched FOX and got DSN...... |
Voyager was my faviourite series as well. I think the reason I liked it so much is because they took Star Trek out of Starfleet teritory. They let it off its hinges so it wasn't too restricted by Starfleet rules and regualtions. A lot of peope didn't seem to like the female captian though, who I thought was actually really good.
Enterprise had it moments, but it was so boring because Archer was stoic like Jon Luc Parcard. The stories were just too restricted by the 'space exploration' mandate.
This new Star Trek seems to have gotten one main thing right which is the characterisations. The characters have relatable personalities, Kirk has charisma. Thats whats Star Trek dd need with its characters. But I think the storytelling is too simple to be Star Trek. Ultimately I feel its an action film in space that dosen't feature an intricately woven story. The galaxy is a big place, yet twice the most important planet has been Earth.
I've seen the box office totals you've posted. The film cost more to make than its predecessor so even if it does match Star Trek (2009) it might be less profitable. I think the key problem has been the 4 year absence of the crew of the Enterprise, and in defence it has been doing very well outside America apparently.
