I never liked the term "hardcore" gamer because it's just too vague.

I think there are basically people who really enjoy the act of FOLLOWING video game news and discussing about it, in addition to just playing the games, and then people who play a few select "mainstream" games and aren't really that interested in talking about games on gaming forums.

I think the former might get really upset about the Xbox ONE and not value a lot of the features like the NFL partnership, but I'm just not sure how big they are compared to the rest of the people who enjoy playing CoD, Madden, Fifa only.

I think it's really hard to tell the situation Xbox is in right now. Basically, you're not going to get the truth until you do some market research and surveying of the people who aren't ranting about Xbox One on the internet. They're going to be the main buyers of this console.

Hardcore gamer isnt vague, it just means you're a hobbyist.

Hobbyist meaning? If someone plays 6+ hours a week on a game are they are "hardcore" gamer? Does it depend on what type of game they play (e.g. Farmville vs. CoD vs. Demon's Soul)?

casual games are created for people who like simple games, but they can still have depth in the gameplay. Super mario is an example of that. Farmville is an example and so is Angry Birds. Games with simple controls, but in the gameplay eventually comes some sort of depth.

Hobbyist is someone games as a hobby. They invest time into bettering themselves at the craft.

COD is not a casual game and by no means does casual mean you suck at gaming, it just means you don't invest that much time into gaming. You game loosely.
