Price is going to be key to whether the PS4 and the One can catch up with the installed userbase of the Wii U or eventually beat those numbers. I just can't see either one of them retailing for less than $400 let alone hitting that 'sweet spot' of $299.99. If Nintendo cut the price of the Wii U by $50 before Chrimbo things could get VERY interesting, the Wii U should be profitable after a year on the market because they were said to be making a small loss at launch. The likes of Zavvi/The Hut have started to take pre-orders for £399.99 but I can see that price going up to £449.99/$499.99 by the time it's released. |
After seeing what Microsoft is going for with the Xbox1, I can't fathom them hitting 399 even. I honestly will own all 3 eventually, but I can see myself buying a Wii u (cheaper) and Xbox1 (TV functionality that pays for itself) sooner than later if it all pans out. Ps4 might have to wait a year until the library builds up and a price cut.
Then again, if they could get Time Warner Cable to remove that supid eqipment rental fee for 7-10 bucks on my monthly bill.... lol. And no I'm not kidding.
