Yes, but look at what has become of abanding reatil for pc. pc now has more indie games than ever, more selection of games, and its easier to get old games. Basically its made it possible to always get a game. No out of print. No out of stock. Now games can be released for some the smallest niche markets. they each have their pluses and minuses. I think thats why ms still has retail game this gen and didn't go entirely digital. this is realy a transition gen, and the next gen may not have physical discs at all. I really do hope MS is smart about this and does not try to kill off used games. I just cant wait until we know all the info (mainly price) for bothps4 and xbone

PC has those things because of Valve. A couple years ago before the popularity of casual, indy and Steam sales PC was in danger of being irrelevant. The thing that makes consoles relevant is having a unified publisher or source, and Valve is taking that central role for PC, but they do not speak for PC as a whole. PC is still an open format product and I speaking of Valve I would've bought my Mass Effect trilogy from them if it wasnt for Valve not being supported for ME3. Valve cannot ensure ownership because that is up to the publisher under their legal rights but they are trying to make life easier for PC gamers.
