But it was also advertised at and near launch, probably way more than now. Even with continued advertisements sales should slow down each year

Wasn't it bundled quite extensively in 2012? That would certainly explain why it shipped more in 2012 as opposed to 2011. I can't think of any games that sold better in their third year than the second without bundling.

OT: Halo 4 started out fantastically and if it keeps selling tracking above Halo 3/Reach's numbers I think it would outsell GT6. However, I think the new generation will cut Halo 4's legs off a bit (not to mention I think it will start tracking under Halo 3's numbers within a month or two). So I think GT6 will sell better.
