It's done around 1.8m so far, hardly a failure mate. And I'm not saying that any one of these titles alone is going to drive sales through the roof (although you could probably say that about 3D Mario and Mario Kart 8 to be fair) but collectively they're going to increase hardware sales over the course of the next 7 and a half months.
The Wii U's main problem so far has been a lack of software, and this is being addressed.
