Like I said, I think it is one symptom of the real problem (self-indulgence, escapism, effeteness, etc.), not a main driver. It might be a factor in the self-perpetuation of the problem, but a minor one that would be replaced by something else if it didn't exist.
But it is fucking up games something fierce.
