I'm ok with the thought of emulators to mod a game or like for example running glorious Dolphin Xenoblade and you want the best possible experience. But I agree that you need a physical copy of the game to do so. It's fine if you actually have the game, you can tune to best suit your needs. The problem is that it opens a whole gateway to piracy. It's also really frustrating that certain old Nintendo games are really hard to find and play. If Virtual console was much more of an improved service there wouldn't be much of a reason to need to emulate to play old games. I seriously don't really see the problem in releasing a Virtual console thing in partnership with Valve on Steam or something. That would rake in a lot, and possibly even court in some new Nintendo fans. I mean lots of people already play Pokemon emerald on iOS and Android, why not just make it a legal service? I know many people that would be all over that. It would be like an incomplete version of VC with the full version on Nintendo hardware, being free to move your titles. If people enjoy what they got out of their game, maybe they take a gander at the next sequel on 3DS. People that aren't looking for a 3DS don't know that this stuff exists anyways, it could serve as good advertisement that the service exists. Virtual Console isn't really a great selling point but it could be. |
I never use emulators, but I play in a band with 4 other guys that play Pokemon Emerald on an emulator :D The thing I don't understand is why it isn't illegal when it pretty much is piracy.
I really hope people will understand how good virtual console actually is. Since Wii and DS were my first Nintendo consoles I really have a lot to catch up with.
