Has Nintendo Lost Touch With North America?

Seeing as how Europeans LOVE Japanese style games. Nintendo should focus on Japan and Europe, focusing their resources and efforts to acquire as much of a Japanese stronghold of developers as possible. That way they can easily dominate two markets.

How exactly do you come to these conclusions when Nintendo hardware and software have traditionally been stronger in North America than in Europe?  So far this trend has continued with the Wii U and 3DS.
