Is problematic. It's a 2 year old platform, it should be a beast in its prime right now, instead its winded behind the 7 year old XBox 360 that's headed for the retirement home. That's a big problem. Wii U ... is just a trainwreck. |
Handheld has just reduced in popularity and is now resereved mainly for the core gamer. ALthough in the last 2/3 weeks I think the 3DS has finally passed the threshold where people look at its library and go "yeah, theres enough to entertain me". We've seen it sell 40-50k consistently.
Nothings wrong with nintendo's main teams still being in Japan, mario kart, smash bros, 3d mario and zelda all appeal to the average western gamer anyway. Having a fee more european/NA teams would definitely help though and be a worth while investment. As a whole the problem with the Wii U is that lacked games, which will soon change. But also people were cautious that it would lack next gen 3rd part support because of its power. As a result I think very few have interest in it, but once nintendo strongest IPs are out and teh system is cheap, I think many harcore gamers will pick up a wii U as a secondary console. This winter it will do very well with parents purchasing games for young kids (Mario Kart, Windwaker HD, Luigi, Kirby and mario+sonic at the olympics).
