Errr ... Nintendo has been doing publisher partnerships for like 15 years now.

Resident Evil exclusivity, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, F-Zero GX, Star Fox Assault, Soul Calibur 2, Mario in SSX Tricky and NBA Street, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. this isn't anything new.

GameCube actually probably had the strongest Nintendo-third party partnerships.

They do care about multiplats since they made a big point of the Wii U being able to play all those PS3/360 games ("check that box" right Reggie?), they're just not getting all the multi-plats they were hoping for.

Changed the tittle for clarity. Nintendo will prefer to have an exclusive (or time exclusive) game than a multiplat. I will keep using the same example, Nintendo prefers Kingdom Hearts 3 exclusivity than GTA V multiplat.

And that's one of the points, Nintendo is ignoring the strategy they did with the Wii and are returning to the GC days, looking for games rather than waiting for 3rd parties to make them.
