Nintendo hardware accounted for 48% of total units last week. I would say that the simple but emphatic answer is "no", Nintendo has not lost the US market.
Nintendo brands are still far and away the brands of choice for children. And Nintendo has a solid share in all demographics.
The only thing holding back Nintendo from total dominence of the market is the weak-selling Wii U. If it gets a moderate uptick in sales to reach only respectable sales, Nintendo will have well over 50% of US hardware.
