To an extent, yes. American gamers are more interested in war games, fps, and realist based games than the cartoony styles of Mario and Sonic. I'm not saying that NA doesn't care about Mario or Sonic but our tastes have changed. I don't necessarily agree with that but hey, whatever. You can't say when a Sonic or Pikmin ever outsold a Call of Duty or Halo can you? Nintendo was killer back in the day and they still are today. The audience has just changed.
