They will be launching the biggest PlayStation exclusive on a platform that will be 7 Years old. Right next to the release of a new PlayStation console, a console that could do with a huge exclusive to help push sales. Gran Turismo 6 would sell on PS4 for Years. It would sell more as the console sells more. It would do more for PS4 in the long run than it will for PS3 is the next 2-3 Years.
Instead, Gran Turismo would be missing on PS4 for the next 3-5 Years. It wont have the biggest system seller Sony has for 3 to 5 Years. Thats a huge drawback. PS3 suffered from not having a main GT game, PS4 will potentially suffer too.

Its not about promoting PS4 sales, its about GT6 sales. And GT6 would sell 10 times better on PS3.
