Hardest forum I know of to get a membership. You can't register with a free email address and it takes months, sometimes over a year for your account to get approved.

Why is that? 

because of the many idiots that want an account there to just spam the forums. there are a lot of users who get banned shortly after their official registration and i am not surprised they are :)
