I don't think anyone who knows what they are talking about. Assumed that Nintendo wouldn't be having their standard business meetings, or that they wouldn't still be having their private booth sessions with gaming journalists. It should be noted however that every small company that will be attending will have those. Real powers in the industry do have large press events. Even the bigger third party publishers have such public events.

So for Nintendo to not be having an event. Sends a very strong message with many negative connotations. Specifically that they are no longer a real power in the industry. It means they will be negotiating from a position of weakness, and stating that they wouldn't be having the event has had a ripple effect forward into time. It creates just one more negative stigma for them, and for their product. It gives license to people to say that they are scared, don't have anything to show, don't know what they are doing, or are just indifferent about their product.

None of which is good for potential customers to hear, or even for their supporters for that matter. Lets call it what it really is a pride obliterating bitch slap. You can't honestly tell me that their not having a press conference hasn't left you with some real doubts about their future.

It gives people like YOU a "license" to say they are scared or don't have anything to show, but let's be honest, you would have been saying that anyway.

Nintendo is certainly taking a risk. It's a risk that may pay off, or it may not pay off. In that regard, I have doubts about their strategy, but being that I'm not a professional businessman like the people running that company, I try not to spend too much time second-guessing their decisions.

I do not have "real doubts" about Nintendo's future. Not at all. Not a single one. They have the best-selling console on the market. They have the two best-selling intellectual properties in the history of the industry. They are profitable. They're doing fine and they're going to continue to do fine, and the fact that they aren't following the same traditions as Sony and Microsoft this year won't change that. Insisting otherwise would be no more than a superstition.

Am I blowing things out of proportion, or are you just practicing damage control on a massive scale. I encourage you to delve into my posting history. Since you know me oh so well. Let me save you some time, because frankly I doubt you will put in the time. Seeing as it is so easy to stamp a label on someone. When you don't like what they have to say. I had next to nothing to say about the console from its unveiling to its launch, and nothing to say about it until fairly recently. I gave the console all the rope you guys insisted it needed to have before it could hang itself. 

Nintendo supporters on these forums said it couldn't be judged until it was launched. Then you said well it needs at least a couple months. Then you said well give it half a year. Then that starts to roll around, and you say well wait to E3, and now that Nintendo is ducking that. You have moved the time table up to the holdiays. You know before the console, and the manufacturer can be judged. I will bet you anything if the console gets there. You will ask for yet another delay. I am sure if we all gave you a brick you would build a damn pyramid. With all the procrastinating you want to do.

Stop running away from the truth for crying out loud. Look at yourself in the mirror. Look at who you are defending, and how they have been treating you, and for what a misguided sense of loyalty. They aren't just taking advantage of you. They are straight up abusing you. They pawned a last gen console off on you, and said it was next gen. Hell it isn't even good tech in that regard. They haven't seen fit to get you any games, let alone make any for you. They have just about pissed off every third party developer on the planet, and now they wont even throw you a party at E3.

No I am afraid all those suppositions are entirely justified. In fact their behavior justifies a whole lot more. No group of gamers deserves to be treated like this. Have you for one instant thought that maybe Pachter is right to deride Nintendo. You act as if Nintendo needs to be saved, or it needs to be blindly defended. Look good companies deserve to stay around, but Nintendo just isn't a good company. I am not sure that has been the case for in many years. How many times do they have to kick you in the crotch before you start to listen to us naysayers.

Your the guy who has built a monument to Nintendo. I am just the guy who has watched from a distance, and has finally decided to warn you that it is starting to tip over, and you should get away from it before it falls on your head.
