I'm not too worried about the hardware sales of the Wii U as I believe they can only improve from their currently dismal state. It's the software attach rates that are more troubling. It seems to be hard enough to get good 3rd party support as it is but when you look at software sales it paints a very bad situation for Nintendo.

If I recall correctly Nintendo killed off the DS because of faltering software sales so at the very least I think they need to step up their marketing to improve consumer awareness and to change the attitude toward the console into more of a positive one. One option could be to rebrand the console and have a relaunch of sorts.

Although Nintendo is addressing the issue of game output, I really do hope that they invest heavily into their teams and provide the resources that will allow games to be of high quality with reasonable development times.
