An opninon ive had, How you ask? Well before WoW came around each game had unique mechanics to it and offered a diffrent experince to the player. WoW was unique too but how it killed other MMO's was for being so popular beyong belief in which it made developers try to copy the forumula which flooded the market with WoW clones. Making any other game that tried to be unique made it foreign for the player to not adapt to it and soon died out.
example star wars galaxies had a very deep gamplay and alot of original content to it that was heavly player based but after WoW was released and controlled the mass of the MMO market SOE decided to change SWG's game formula to copy WoW and added in the NGE changing the game almost completley. Then thats when Vanguard was released from SOE faling hard.
then came a ton of other clones, all lacking uniqueness trying to leach on WoW's success.

and more, just the ones i can think of at the top of my head. WoW is'nt a horrible game its actually very simplified with a decent game mechanics, but in the past seeing as there were games with huge deep game content and now most MMO's have been simplified makes me worry for the future of MMO's either being a WoW clone or just to casual with no deep gameplay experince, as the unique ones tend to fail.
Makes me wonder what will happen to the MMO market and where it will go, what do you think?
