PS4/720 will probably have their growing pains too, but I think they are also going to be consoles that are probably aiming to have 7-8 year hardware cycles minimum as well.
So I don't think there would be a big sense of panic either. It doesn't sound like either one is planning to take big hardware losses either.
The other thing is Nintendo fans tend to buy a Nintendo console and gravtiate mostly to Nintendo games.
But for the PS4/720, Madden NFL or Call of Duty are basically the equivalent to "Mario" on those consoles, so third parties will likely be happier with the software sales. Third party software dominates Sony/MS consoles, Sony/MS 1st party software is basically just there as filler.
