Being a slightly different direction =/= Bastardisation tho, there is already plenty of basis in the series for mecha (Mecha-Hitler being the iconic final boss) and the series has always been about aternative history occult/sudoscience Nazis and killing them. Bringing it forward in the timeline and setting it after the Nazis won the war is a good fit for the franchise. Having mechs being the primary enemy type as the screens and trailer imply is a bit of a different take for the franchise but is not much of a streatch. And how can you hate mecha? why you be ackin so cray cray.
The franchise is also always been rediculous I mean the main character is called B J Blazkowicz FFS. If you have been taking anything in the series seriously then you have been doing it wrong.
