Not really.  You can sell poorly and still make profit.  The Gamecube was in last place but Nintendo still profited that generation.

I have never seen Nintendo announce profits for handhelds and home consoles separately, so personally I think the profits were due to GBA,DS not the Gamecube.

nitendo didn't take a loss on gamecube hardware and it did sell a lot of software. it's okay to say most of the profits came from gba but gc itself was also making money.
